John Prine wore a ventilator during the treatment of Corona19 symptoms, his family told Twitter.
The John Prine family said on Twitter:
After a sudden onset of Covid-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday (3/26).
He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical.
This is hard news for us to share.
But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send on more of that love and support now.
And know that we love you, and John loves you.
This month, John Prine wife and manager, Fiona Whelan Prine, said she was positive for coronavirus.
She said the couple were isolated from each other.
He is one of the most influential figures in folk music and country music.
John Prine, 73, fought two cancers. Most recently, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013 and part of the lung was removed.

John Prine gave his voice after surgery, but continued to make music and travel.
Before the coronavirus was invented, John Prine prepared a show scheduled for May and planned a summer trip.
